How to Prepare for a Mobile Mechanic Appointment

A few details and a safe work area help Wayne arrive better prepared and make the most of your mobile service visit.

Straightforward guidance, not a remote diagnosis. Vehicle symptoms can have multiple causes. If driving feels unsafe, stop in a secure place and arrange hands-on help.

Share the right vehicle information

When you call or text, include the vehicle year, make, model, engine if known and where it is parked. Describe what happened in your own words, when it started and whether the vehicle currently starts or moves.

Photos of warning lights, visible leaks, damaged parts or the dashboard can help with planning. Do not erase diagnostic codes or disconnect the battery unless safety requires it.

Provide a safe, workable parking area

A level driveway or private parking area with room around the vehicle is usually best. Move other cars, toys, hoses and loose items away from the work zone. Let Wayne know in advance about garages with low clearance, apartment rules, street-parking limits or uneven ground.

Weather and traffic can affect whether a repair can be completed safely outdoors. Wayne will confirm what is practical for the location and job.

Have access ready

Keep the keys available and make sure locked wheel keys, service records or known parts are easy to find. If the appointment is at your workplace or another property, confirm that mobile repair is permitted and that Wayne can reach you during the visit.

  • Vehicle keys and wheel-lock key
  • Safe access to the parked vehicle
  • Maintenance records when relevant
  • A phone number that will be answered

Expect diagnosis to shape the final repair

Symptoms can have more than one cause. The first visit may identify the repair, confirm the correct parts and determine whether the work is appropriate to complete on-site.

Good preparation helps, but you do not need to diagnose the car yourself. Tell Wayne what you observe and let the testing guide the next step.
